Neurostar Care Connection: Your Insurance Advocates
The objective for NeuroStar Care Connection program staff is to assist you in gaining access to TMS Therapy as quickly as possible by helping you secure insurance coverage and reimbursement. Most commercial insurance companies do not universally cover TMS therapy for depression. Some plans even have specific statements in their coverage policies indicating they do not cover TMS. The NCC program is necessary because new therapies like NeuroStar TMS Therapy often are not included in health insurance plans when they first become available to patients. It usually takes time for health insurance plans to establish coverage policies for newly approved technologies such as NeuroStar TMS Therapy.
Sacramento TMS works with the NeuroStar Care Connection (NCC) program to gain coverage for your TMS therapy. The NCC is staffed by trained case managers to help with the insurance appeals and reimbursement process. The NeuroStar Care Connection program has a high success rate in getting TMS approved by major insurance companies when TMS is clinically indicated. Companies such as Aetna, Blue Shield, Anthem Blue Cross, and Kaiser have approved reimbursement for TMS with the NCC program. To determine if your insurance company covers TMS, contact Sacramento TMS at 916-932-0375. Our TMS coordinator will be able to assist you in determining the best approach to getting TMS covered by your insurance company. We work with the NCC case managers to conduct a formal benefits investigation to get TMS reimbursed by your insurance company.
Positive Results
NeuroStar TMS Therapy® may be covered by your health insurance plan on a case-by-case basis. Many plans have started to cover TMS. For example, the Federal Blue Shield/Blue Cross plan now authorizes TMS therapy for treatment resistant depression. At Sacramento TMS, we have successfully acquired coverage for our patients with Magellan and Cigna Health Insurance. Additionally, through the use of an external appeals process, we have successfully covered some of our patients with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
